They sent a tech out to hook up my new oven. This guy told me the oven would not fit and it would cost me 2,100 to get it to fit.
I called another plumber the next day; he hooked it up in 20 minutes for 285 dollars.
These dishonest people did not give me a receipt or tech's report because they know he is wrong, but they kept my 137 dollars. I am taking them to court where they will be paying much more than that.

Verified ReviewerThey sold me furnace saying it was ready to go and I ended up buying it from them and now I am having issues with huge electric bills , house is not cooling and no one is returning my calls
I called them for a water heater, and they said the furnace was getting bad and they would give a good deal if we bought them together. And we did.
It's been 2 months since it was installed; my home's upper level is not cooling quickly, and the electricity bills have doubled. They have not sent me papers for inspection and don't return my calls. We don't know what to do except keep calling.
The payments have started. I expect better from this company.

Verified ReviewerDidn't show up for warranty service on air condition
I would give zero stars if I could. AJ Perri is not an honest company; I would not recommend anyone to use them for installation and definitely don't buy warranty.
They will not honor it when you need it. Since my work is warranty and I will not be paying for this visit (I paid for it in 2019 when I purchased the air conditioner), they just ignore my problem and push it down for 2 weeks, most likely because they are busy and can get more money going to people without warranty. In 2019, I hired AJ Perri Heating and Cooling to install a new air conditioner in my house. I purchased a 10-year warranty for labor and parts.
My air conditioner broke on June 20th. I called AJ Perri to schedule an appointment. A customer service person scheduled an appointment for me for Tuesday, June 24th, between 2 PM and 6 PM. Come Tuesday, AJ Perri didn't show up for the appointment and didn't call me to tell me.
Around 5:45 PM on Tuesday, I called AJ Perri to find out if they were still coming, and I was told my appointment was canceled and moved to July 2nd. I told the person on the phone they had to come out the next day and fix my air conditioner and for the manager to call me. On Wednesday, no one called me. I called again a few times during the first half of the day, and I was told the manager was trying to see if they could move up my appointment from July 2nd.
Now it's 5 PM on Wednesday and no one has called me. I called AJ Perri and asked the customer service person to connect me to the manager. They refused and told me the manager would call me but didn't say a time or date.
Since AJ Perri missed my appointment, I expect them to call me and come out the next day. But this is not how AJ Perri works.
- Do not honor warranty
- Did not show up for service appointment
User's recommendation: Do not use AJ Perri dishonest company.
No show and no response
We had an appointment on 06/26 between 2 and 6 pm. NO ONE showed up, No one called.
I had to call at 6 pm to see what is going on and was told, quite casually, that the technician is not coming!
We have been without A/C for 2 days in 100 degrees heat with a small child in the house! This is a health hazard, And AJ Perry didn't even bother to call us that they are not coming for the appointment! This is completely unprofessional!
Also, I requested to speak with a supervisor about this and was told that someone will contact me ASAP. I never heard back.
Is this what passed for customer service?! If I could give 0 star review, I would!
Overpayment and inadequate work
Good Morning,
My name is Bradford Hayes and last month you all did 2 jobs for me, here in Hillside, New Jersey. The first was a gas boiler, which I have since found that I was overcharged and the second was a replaced section of a cracked sewer line in which I was also overcharged.
The salesmen that you sent were a bit overzealous in selling the products that you sell, but because of your reputation, I agreed to let you all complete the projects. However, with all of the overcharging, my toilet on the first floor is backing up. Even with all of that money spent. I was told by the repairman that all of your work is guaranteed, so I'm not expecting to spend another dime to get the problem resolved.
A copy of this email is also being Bcc'd to my attorney. Please get back to me on this matter.

Frustration and disgust
Ive written positive reviews in the past, but since I had my new air conditioner installed, theres been nothing but problems. One season and use brand new and a musty unpleasant odor transmitted throughout the entire second floor of my home.
I had someone come and tell me to have my ducts clean. $1300 later and it still smells only to have another AJ Perry tech come and tell me that theres a bacterial / mold growth in the motor. He cleans it yesterday and applied an odor absorber which is not sufficient for me considering its a brand new machine. Ive owned several homes.
Ive rented several properties. I have a downstairs unit thats 15 years old. Ive never had an issue where central air smells especially with a brand new $13,000 unit. I spoken to quality assurance and Im always waiting for somebody named Mike to get back to me when he didnt get back to me the first message that I left weeks ago theyre telling me that the motor is not under warranty because its not mechanical yet I cant understand how a bacterial growth in a brand.
New machine is not mechanical issue with mustiness being expelled, despite having air doctors, other air purifiers house plants in non-smoking household and now clean ducts in my home. Experience and discernment tells me that this is complete BS. Ive called every relative and Friend and ask if theyve ever had this experience and how old the age of their air-conditioning units have been all living in the same geographical location. My question is how is this air conditioning stored prior to being installed in my home especially since they were able to slash the price in half from the 22,000 we were initially quoted.
How do I know that this growth wasnt already in the process of multiplying before they installed it the least they can do is consider this the mechanical issue that it technically is and replace the motor in good faith. Beyond frustrating and complete disgusted with this company too many other instances after having it installed to discuss right now, but this is the biggest reason for my seething discontent.
User's recommendation: Find someone else they’re a bunch of salesmen I’ve had more visits from AJ Perry in my home in the last two years then I’ve had two in my entire 46 years of life in any other of my homes or rentals.
Dissatisfaction of Overall Company
I purchased a HVAC System 2 years ago.
It came with a 10 year warranty and 100% money back guarantee is not satisfied certificate.
Last year the fan broke and had to be replaced,
This year I called and after getting the run around a tech showed and said my 2 year AC now needs a compressor and board.
A supervisor called and said he would expedite the parts and they would be in the following week, Monday. June 24th was extremely hot and now it is still 90 degrees.
I still have no call or eta or air.
Either give me back my money and I will move to another company or put in a new unit because the one I have is a lemon and does NOT work.

Verified ReviewerUnhappy customer
literally the worst. we decided to go with this company, pay a little more to ensure we would be provided a seamless installation of our new HVAC system, and it has been nothing but issues for the past 2 weeks.
we've had a total of 5 technicians come out on 3 separate occasions, only to leave our house with 3 separate issues that are still not all resolved. the communication has essentially been nonexistent.
I still haven't received a call for follow-up on the issues we experienced last Wednesday. Do yourself a favor and go with another more reliable, trustworthy company that will listen to their customers and put their customers first.
- Poor service
- Expensive
- No communication

Ripped Off
I have a 3 year old AC unit. The Sales Rep Named Rock explained that our coils were dirty and we needed a Special cleaning.
He said our system may freeze up and basically die. He said that the coils needed a Special chemical to remove the dirt. He said he would give me a discount because we already paid $249 for a one year service of AC and Furnace. I watched him spay on a cleaning solution grab my hose and wash it away.
All for $600. I could have done this myself. These technicians are Flat Out Used Car sales people looking to make a commissions off people.
Do Not Use this Company. You will regret it.

Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Tried to bill $1,600 when all I needed was basic maintenance
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I called A.
J. Perri and asked them to cancel the part order, which they did.
J. Perri technician diagnosed my furnace problem and wrote me an estimate for $1,600, parts and labor. It turns out my furnace had a different problem that required no parts and only 15 minutes of labor.
Here are the details:
One Saturday my furnace stopped heating my home. I called A.J.
Perri and they sent out a technician on Sunday morning. The tech ran some checks and concluded that my inducer assembly had to be replaced. Parts and installation would be $1,600. He said someone from the office would contact me on Monday and let me know when they could have the part.
He also said that he couldn't be certain that there weren't other issues that would be found once the inducer was repaired.
After the technician left I did some searching on the Internet. YouTube and Reddit were especially helpful. I discovered that the problem was that the condensate drain was clogged and water had backed up into the inducer assembly. The water prevented the pressure switches from detecting that the inducer was running and this prevented the furnace from starting.
When I disconnected the condensate hose *2 quarts* of water drained out of the inducer assembly! This water was supposed to drain into a small pump unit on the floor that sends collected water to the sump. Over the years mold and algae had clogged the condensate trap and caused the backup.
I disconnected all the hoses and removed the trap. I blew out the trap (making a mess) and confirmed that water would easily flow through it.
I put it all back together and the furnace is working fine.
The sad lesson here is that you cant always rely on supposed experts. The good news is that the Internet can be your friend.
Even more details:
The original symptom was that the furnace would start up, the inducer motor would run for about 20 seconds and then it would shut off. This cycle would repeat every few minutes. Every few hours the furnace completed the startup cycle and then Id get heat.
Then it would stop heating for hours, and the indoor temperature would drop to the low 60s.
What I learned from YouTube is that there are multiple stages for furnace startup. The inducer motor spins a cage that sucks in fresh air for combustion, and then pushes the hot gases through the heat exchanger and out the flue. Each stage in the startup has safety checks. The furnace will not ignite if the pressure sensors dont detect that the inducer motor is working properly.
Water is a byproduct of the combustion.
It starts as a vapor but then condenses in the flue pipe and drains back to the inducer assembly, where its supposed to run through a hose to a pump that sends it over to my basement sump. The furnace is 14 years old. Apparently thats long enough for mold and algae to clog the condensate trap and cause water to back up into the inducer. The 2 qts of water blocked the pressure sensor switches and so the furnace wouldnt light.
Final thoughts:
For over 14 years I've had great experiences with A.J.
Perri. They replaced my homes original furnace and Air Conditioner units. They moved our outside A/C unit to the side of our house so we could have more quiet in the backyard. I had them come for periodic heating and A/C maintenance checkups.
My impression is that they might cost a bit more, but they were reliable. I'm saddened that I need to post such a negative review.
- Have provided great service in the past
- I can not trust their technicians
Preferred solution: Full refund
Do not follow service schedule.
Did expensive plumbing work that they have to return to move things back after work is done. Tech did not come as scheduled thus we were not able to attend mass on that day and did not get to go food shopping, have to stay home the entire day..
I have to pay handymen to finish installing back my washer/drier and filed a request for refund of $800...$214 for payment of handymen's labor (reimbursed after 30 days) and $600 for the delayed hours the tech did not show up. Have to call a couple times to follow up the tech's sked.
I will stay away from them!
User's recommendation: Get a quote from other organization. I was in a rush which was my mistake in not exploring other companies to do the work.

Still waiting compensation for my claim of damages.
The technician did not arrive on time and did not complete the project. He was 4 hours late from the promised time window.
I had to make a couple of phone calls to follow up on their promised schedule to finish the job.
We had to stay home, missing our Sunday Mass and our weekly food shopping. We had to call a third party for the completion of the job.

- Do not follow promised schedule
Preferred solution: A price reduction or a credit.
User's recommendation: Be wary of their scheduling.
Horrible service
My family and I bought a house in August 2023 and with any house, we had to do renovations. The house is a one-family house with 2 floors.
When we moved in, the central air in the house was perfect downstairs but upstairs did not get any cold or hot air in two rooms. My family went to Home Depot to see if they could help us in this situation. We are first-time homeowners so we have no experience on how to deal with these types of problems. When my family went to Home Depot, they contracted AJ Perrito to take care of us.
AJ Perri sent an engineer to come look at the house and to see what the issue is. He stated that the temperature was different upstairs and downstairs because the unit was oversized and that the thermostat was turning off because downstairs was reaching the temperature that it was set at. The engineer stated that we needed a new unit that was smaller to accommodate the size of the house and he quoted us $ 11,500 for the new unit. He also told us that when the installation is happening, they will put a thermostat upstairs and keep the one downstairs so we will have a thermostat for each floor.
We went along with it and the installation happened on September 19th, 2023. Once they finished the installation, we noticed there wasnt a thermostat upstairs. We asked the installation crew why they didnt put the thermostat upstairs and they responded that they had no idea about it and didnt receive any instructions for it. We gave it a day to see if the new unit fixed the issue and nothing changed.
We then called AJ Perri telling them that the new unit doesnt work upstairs still and they sent another technician from AJ Perri to check out the issue. When the new technician came to see the house, he said the unit was never the issue that the ducts in the house were the issue and he had contacted the installation department. They called us a few days later and they said the only solution was a ductless system upstairs in each room. At this point, we were a couple of months into this situation and we asked for a return of the old unit.
We did not want the ductless unit in each room because of the space it takes up.They said this was the only solution to this situation. On October 19th, 2023, they installed the three ductless units. To no ones surprise, this did not fix the situation, upstairs still gets no air. During the cold months, we had to use portable heaters in each room which we were extremely uncomfortable using but we had no choice.
AJPerri then sent another technician again and this time he said that everything worked nt.t perfectly fine. At this point, they would just start ignoring our calls. We contacted Home Depot once again to tell them that AJ Perri changed the units and that the air still doesnt work upstairs. Since they installed the new unit and the 3 units upstairs, the upstairs still has not worked and the electricity bill has doubled.
We then received a call from Mr. Frank Carbo from the quality assurance department of AJ Perri. He said he needed to come and do an evaluation to see what was wrong. He came and said the system was in the wrong location so thats why it does not work properly.
He added sensors to check the airflow, closed some vents, and ordered a fan to suck the air to go upstairs to better the flow. Again, to no ones surprise, this did not help in any way. After he closed some of the vents, the air downstairs got worse. One bedroomgets no air at all.
Mr. Frank came again and closed the air going into the basement and some areas on the first and second floors. After this visit, some areas in the house get no air. We went back to Home Depot and told them we needed a refund and our old unit back so we could contact another contractor.
Home Depot then sent out Andrew Gamatko, the operations manager at AJ Perri, to assess the situation they had created. He told us that the unit they installed was never working and they would replace it and if it did not work, we would get a refund. He was so sure that he was going to fix the problem and he gave us his number and email so if anything went wrong, we could get in contact with him. After some time, the air stopped getting better and returned to the old ways so we called him. Mr.
Gamatko gave us two options; to get a refund or to hire a contractor to change the duct layout in the house and they will take care of everything else. Changing the duct layout was out of our budget so we kindly accepted the refund because we were asking for it for months. Mr. Gamatko said okay and told us someone would call us to process the refund.
On May 16th, 2024, we received a call from a lady by the name of Kelly Giola. She told us that AJPerri had a meeting about us and they would refund us but we needed to fill out a form online. She gave us a website and told us if we had any issues to call her or go to Home Depot. She called me while I was at work so I had to fill the form out when I got home.
When I got home that day, the website was not working and there was no way to claim the refund online. The next day we tried contacting Ms. Giola but she ignored our calls and no way we could reach her. We went to Home Depot to see how we could claim the money and they were so defensive on the whole case.
The installation manager, Mr. Owen, came to speak to us. When we were explaining the whole thing to him his reaction was AJ Perri does great work for my home and they are our best friends. There has to be a mistake.
When we said this, it clicked to us that they would do everything in their power to not give us a refund. We have exhausted all the resources that we have and are just completely fed up with this whole situation. We have been almost a year going back and forth with AJ Perri and Home Depot. All we want is the refund that they have accepted and granted us but for some reason, they will not give it to us.
Once we spoke to Mr. Owen at Home Depot, we knew we were dealing with extremely unprofessional companies that only care about the money in their pockets and not about the service they are providing. I am writing this review to try to warn people to not make the same mistake that we did. If you are a first-time homeowner, please do yourself the favor and choose a different contractor.
Each time I bring this situation up to my neighbors or friends, they say something like AJ Perri making a mistake and changing the provider because they are sloppy with the work. I wish we had known this before. Please research the company beforehand but I will save you time.
Even if you have to pay a little extra money to go with a different contractor, please do it. It isn't worth the headache of dealing with unprofessional and unreliable people.

AJ Perri sized us up - and was obvious about it, too
This company is a complete and total sham. Our air conditioner broke, and we called them to see what our options were.
Our AC & furnace were original at our place and 20+ years old. They sent out a "comfort specialist" or something along the lines of that (aka a salesman) to take a look at our system and provide us with a quote. Granted, we were glad they could come out the same day, as we needed to figure out a plan.
For our appointment, our AC and furnace are in our basement, so we showed the guy where it was. He took a bunch of photos, made random comments about how extraneous items in our basement weren't a part of the HVAC saying that they were "installed oddly".
Weird comment to make, but ok. We then showed him where the condenser is outside, and then he asked to sit down at our kitchen table. No problem, except for the first thing he asks me is, "Who pays the bills?" asking if it was myself or my husband. My husband was still downstairs in the basement at the time, so it was just me sitting at the table.
Odd question, but, again, ok. I figured that the question is semi-relevant as he was trying to hone in on our energy usage - giving him the "benefit" of the doubt here.
After the specialist asked who pays the bills, he asked how much our electric bill is. I shared the $ amount with him but will say that not a single other rep from any other company who came out for a quote asked us for this information. But, this isn't where I felt like he sized us up.
My husband comes upstairs to the kitchen right as this conversation is ongoing and happened to have his tool box with him, as he and I were putting together furniture the previous day and he realized he left it downstairs. The guy asks my husband, who was in dress pants and a pullover sweater, "What do you do for work?" asking as if he was "curious" because my husband was dressed in corporate office attire while holding a toolbox. We both laughed at this in the moment, but in looking back on it, we realize it was just a sleazy tactic.
The specialist guy then goes on to explain entirely how a furnace and AC system work, pictures and all. After a very detailed explanation, he punches a bunch of info into his tablet for at least 15 minutes and comes up with a quote for us.
To replace an air conditioner and furnace it would cost us $22K. TWENTY TWO THOUSAND! The best part? The guy said with his "friends & family" discount he could bring it down to $18K.
If we committed on the spot (after he said he could ask his manager) he said he could get it down to $15K. What in the world?! We felt like he was trying to determine how much we could afford and sized us up for what we're worth.
Needless to say, we shopped around and found comparable equipment with a wonderful installer for literally a fraction of the cost. AJ Perri can take their sleazy tactics and taking advantage of people and keep it.
They should feel ashamed of themselves. Terrible that they do this and I hope they go out of business once people realize they're being ripped off.
User's recommendation: Look elsewhere! They're a rip off
